Deep in the heart of Finland, over 800 kilometers of riding await you.
There are 12 varied loops of 30 to 60 kilometers and one 300 kilometer loop connecting them all.
Whether you are looking for relaxed, easy-going rides, curious exploration along village roads,
or determined forward-moving effort that requires Finnish sisu.
Rolling, quiet gravel roads keep you moving, while the laid-back atmosphere invites you to pause in the middle of village streets.
From the depths of the forests to lakeshores and onwards to the edge of a national park.
This is Savo Gravel.
Where?
Savo Gravel is located in the heart of Finland, in North Savo region.
Savo Gravel is currently built across six municipalities and will expand further in the future.
At the moment, the network includes 12 loop routes of 30–60 kilometres, which can be combined into longer rides if needed,
and one main route of approximately 300 kilometres connecting them.
The routes start from the centres of the six municipalities:
Keitele, Pielavesi, Rautalampi, Suonenjoki, Tervo and Vesanto,
making local services easily accessible.
What are they like?
The routes are varied and offer different types of riding in diverse Savonian landscapes.
They are categorized by overall mood into three groups: Relaxed, Lively and Challenging.
as well as by riding experience: Fast & Flowing, Dynamic and Power.
Mood | |
|---|---|
Relaxed | Easy-going riding with relaxed, unhurried feel. Gentle progress along village outskirts and quiet roads. Time passes effortlessly as the kilometres roll by. |
Lively | Lively and varied riding. At times faster-paced, at times unhurriedd, with rolling and winding terrain and frequent changes in rhythm. |
Challenging | Heart rate rises, breathing deepens. At moments you give in everything, pushing through the final climb with determination. Rewarding riding that challenges you physically, without the pressure of racing. |
Experience | |
|---|---|
Fast & Flowing | Smooth and brisk riding. Not technically or physically demanding, with fast-flowing surfaces. |
Dynamic | Rolling terrain with short climbs and curves. A sense of flow with frequent shifts between relaxed and more energetic riding. |
Power | Determined pedalling with longer and steeper climbs. Sections that test leg strength and stamina – be prepared to push and work for your progress. |
