Suonenjoki Local Heritage Museum

The local heritage museum is located in Suonenjoki’s Old Town Centre, near Suonenjoki Church. The museum, built inside an old grain magazine, contains a basic collection of tools and household items.

The museum building was constructed in 1891 as the parish grain store. Originally, there were two magazines. The loan‑grain system ended in the 1950s, after which one of the magazines was converted into a museum.

For the agricultural exhibition of 1953, the museum committee gathered a wide collection of objects from the countryside. The Suonenjoki Farmers’ Association donated this collection to the City of Suonenjoki in the mid‑1980s. The museum also contains items that have since been donated by private individuals.
