Along the Jokipolku trail that follows the shoreline of Suonenjoki, next to the Kimpanlampi lean-to shelter, you will find the ITE Culture Outhouse. Created as part of the Finland 100 programme, the idea of the Culture Outhouse is to combine community-based tourism and ecology while serving not only practical needs but also communal and ITE artistic expression.
The ITE artwork See and Feel Nature with the Eyes of the Soul by Varkaus-based artist Nino Tolvanen was unveiled on Finnish Visual Arts Day in 2022. The work was commissioned by the ITE in Northern Savo project of the Finnish Adult Education Association.
The Kimpanlampi lean-to shelter is located by the river, so it can also be reached by paddling along the Suonenjoki River or by rowing with the city boats. The Jokipolku nature trail is about five kilometres long and runs from Kimpanlampi to Iisvesi. The trail is best accessed from the southern end of Kimpanlampi or from the Iisvesi harbour. At both ends of the nature trail there is a lean-to shelter maintained by the city.
