Lintharju
Lintharju is Suonenjoki’s most versatile outdoor area, suitable for recreation both in summer and winter. This beautiful ridge area offers routes for hiking, mountain biking and skiing. You can take a mushroom basket with you or rent an electric‑assist mountain bike and explore the scenic ridge. Bring snacks to enjoy at a lean‑to shelter, or stop by Lintharju Sports Centre after your outing to swim, go to the sauna or enjoy the café.
Nature Trail
You can explore Lintharju’s nature on a 13‑kilometre nature trail. Along the trail there are information boards about the area. Thanks to connecting paths, shorter routes can also be walked.
Mountain Biking
Those who enjoy faster activity can explore Lintharju by mountain bike. The routes are mainly easy forest trails on sandy terrain, but the ridge area’s hills — with significant elevation changes in places — provide challenge. The trails are marked with yellow paint markings and signposts. Parts of the routes pass through protected and Natura areas, so cyclists are asked to respect nature and stay on marked paths.
In addition to Lintharju, Suonenjoki also has the Simola and Koskelo mountain biking routes.
The Most Beautiful Ski Track of Northern Savo
The Lintharju ski trail network runs through beautiful ridge landscapes and is considered one of the highlights of cross‑country skiing in Northern Savonia. The varied terrain of this partly protected area offers challenge for enthusiastic skiers and impressive scenery for casual skiers.
The area also has dog‑friendly ski trails.
Arrival
When arriving, it is recommended to leave your car at the lower parking area of Suonenjoki Ice Hall near the town centre, where route maps are also available. You can also start from Onkilampi, where another parking area for the outdoor area is located.

Lean‑tos
Snacks taste best in the peace of nature! There are five lean‑to shelters in the Lintharju area: Alaparkki, Palolampi and Kukkura shelters, as well as the lower and upper shelters at Onkilampi. The city maintains the firewood supply.
