Leppäselkä outdoor trail
The Leppäselkä outdoor trail in Keitele is a hiking route suitable for all ages.
The total length of the trail is 4.7 km, and there is a lean‑to shelter with a campfire site along the route.
There are several different‑length paths leading from the starting point to the shelter.
The shortest, the red route (1 km), goes directly to the shelter and is especially popular with families.
Overall, the trail offers steep climbs and descents for more demanding hikers as well.
The terrain varies from rocky and boulder‑rich forest landscapes to a lakeside path.
In winter, Leppäselkä is an excellent place for skiing.
The well‑maintained ski tracks attract skiers from farther away, and the landscape is often said to resemble Lapland.
You can access the ski tracks from the outdoor trail parking area or take a longer route from Keitele’s town area (from the sports field).
