The route towards Kerkonkoski initially follows the same direction as the Myhinkoski route up to Toholahthi, crossing the bridge over Lake Äijävesi. In Toholahti, the route loops through the yard of Majatalo Rautalampi, where there is also a tree species park. The inn also serves as an accommodation option in Rautalampi. From the inn, the route continues along rural roads towards Tyyrinvirta, which is one of the best-known birdwatching spots in Rautalampi, as the river does not freeze in winter.
The route continues along a winding asphalt road to Vaajasalmi and the shores of Nokisenkoski, where there is a kiosk in summer that serves as a good rest stop offering coffee and light snacks. Fishing is also possible in the rapids with a permit.
From Vaajasalmi, the route continues to the former peat production area of Rastunsuo, where old buildings from the peat production period can still be found, along with flat service roads extending in many directions. Today, the area also includes cultivated fields.
From the Rastunsuo area, the route continues to the sandy terrain of Sääksjärvi, where the landscape changes into pine heath with well-maintained gravel roads and trails. As you approach Rautalampi, the route winds between fields and waterways and returns to the town centre, passing, among others, Korhola Manor. There are several manors located near the centre of Rautalampi.
