Two Canals Cycling Route

This gravel cycling route around Kiesimäjärvi offers beautiful rural landscapes and excellent services for cyclists. The route is easy and can even be ridden with a simple city bike—just as the locals have done for generations.

The Two Canals Loop consists mostly of gravel roads, with only a few hills, making it an enjoyable ride for children and young riders as well. Along the way, you will pass two canals connecting different bodies of water: Kerkonkoski Canal and Kiesimä Canal. If you're lucky, you might arrive at the canal just in time to see a boat passing through the locks.

Services Along the Route

At Kiesimä Canal, there is a grill shelter and a toilet. If you wish to stay overnight, the Kiesimä Village Association offers an affordable rental cabin. More details: visitkerkonkoski.fi/majoitus.
In Kerkonkoski, you’ll find a village shop, a summer restaurant, a swimming beach, and the charming Wanha Mylly (Old Mill).
Kerkonkoski Harbor provides a grill shelter and, during the summer, showers and restrooms for travelers.

Route and Starting Points

If arriving by car, we recommend starting from Kerkonkoski Harbor or the Seurala village hall. Follow these directions:

From the village, head to Kiesimäntie, which leads to Kanavatie (turn left).
At the end of Kanavatie, turn left onto Koipilahdentie, then left again onto Koipiniementie.
When Koipiniementie ends, turn left onto Kerkonkoskentie, and finally left onto Vesannontie.
