Suonenjoki Paddling Route 48 km

The Suonenjoki paddling route runs through the beautiful landscapes of Lake Kuvansi, Lake Paasvesi, Lake Puruvesi, Suontienselkä and the Suonenjoki River, and it offers paddlers several different water route options.

The Suonenjoki paddling route runs from the Kutunjoki River all the way to the Iisvesi harbour. Along the way, the route circles the islands of Lake Kuvansi, follows the shores of Paasvesi, Puruvesi and Suontienselkä, and then meanders along the Suonenjoki River. Along the route you can see many beautiful landscapes as well as several bird species. There are several different rest stops along the route: Kuivataipale Canal Museum, Tenhanniemi lean‑to, Kimpanlampi lean‑to, Myllykoski kota shelter and the Iisvesi harbour lean‑to.

The route is suitable for both canoes and kayaks. It is recommended to follow the shoreline while paddling, but personal skill level and weather conditions may offer opportunities for new sights and alternative route choices. Highlights of the route include the islands of Kuvansi, the Kuivataipale Canal Museum, and the Upper and Myllykoski rapids.
